Have you considered starting a blog? I think you should! There are a MILLION courses for blogging out there and it’s hard to know what is good and what isn’t. But never fear, I have a few courses to suggest to you!
First, let me say that it has been so much fun blogging for The Creative Mom Collective! In the first month and a half it has been so encouraging to see how well so many women have been responding to this message! Community is so incredibly important and it DOES take a village to raise a child AND to be a happy, healthy mom!
I’m so glad that there are so many moms out there who realize that their creative contribution to the world matters.
I have been a lover of blogs and blogging since the Xanga days (2005?) and I still read them regularly. As a writer, I love reading about people’s lives because I feel excited when people record their stories through writing–and that is important for us individually and collectively to share them!
Just in case you’re thinking about starting your own blog, I wanted to share few courses that helped me TREMENDOUSLY. I can’t recommend them enough! I have done a lot of courses and I won’t mention the ones I didn’t like, but these were BY FAR the most helpful courses for blogging.
This is the best of the best of blog training. If you’d like to make money blogging, this is the absolute best investment you can make. Every single aspect of blogging is covered in this course. Refining your message, how to write amazing content, visual elements, marketing, networking, everything. And once you’re in, there’s an exclusive Facebook group that has been invaluable to me when I have technical questions or need a little encouragement. The only downside is it’s only for sale 5 days out of the year and it is definitely a financial investment.
Ruth Soukup, the millionaire blogger who created Elite Blog Academy and Living Well, Spending Less breaks down everything you need to be successful and it’s very easy to follow. It’s a lot of work, but it’s amazing and is (no joke) the most comprehensive blog training course in the world. Yeah. I can’t recommend it enough.
Not sure if you’re ready for a course this big? Take this assessment to find out if you’re a good fit!
This is not quite as intensive as Elite Blog Academy, but this is an amazing (and much, much more affordable) course. Think of Building a Framework as a guidebook to help reduce the overwhelm of starting a blog. Abby walks you through everything you need to be thinking about and provides you with the help you need.
It’s not really a secret that the people who get the highest page views on the internet are the people who have good looking sites and even better looking pictures. This course will help you (yes you) master Lightroom. I was incredibly intimidated by Lightroom until I took this course and now I know how to quickly edit pictures and I feel like a boss when I do it. Can’t recommend this enough! There’s also a second course if you’re interested in expanding your skills even further! Check it out here!
The Genius Blogger’s Toolkit Ultimate Bundle
This one is AWESOME! It’s dozens of courses all brought together for one very, very low price–essentially you pay for about one or two courses and get them ALL. Last year’s was 98% off of the price you would pay for all of the courses and ebooks included.
But here’s the deal, it’s only available once a year and the date is TOP SECRET! I have good news though: I have an in and I can tell you when the sale happens! Subscribe to my email list and be on the lookout for an announcement! It’s only available for about one week out of the year, but I’ll make sure to tell you and–if we’re lucky–there might even be an early bird’s bonus!
Subscribe to my email list to know when Ultimate Blogger Guide Bundle is available. And make sure to check out last year’s bundle looked like. (Hint: It was awesome)
Okay, so for real: half of the battle of running a successful blog is staying organized. You have 1000 files in one location and then you have pictures, sponsor info, post ideas, post schedules, advertising campaign timelines. . . it’s just so much!
Matt Giovanisci runs a few very profitable blogs and he shares how to use Asana (a FREE tool) to keep track of everything you need to run a successful blog. He also shows you all of the back end details of his blogs (which to me was worth the $25 alone…) including the plugins he uses, how he schedules things, and how he keeps track of profits. Thanks to this course, I use Asana and I love, love, love it.
Hope that is helpful to you!
I’d love to know what courses you’ve taken that you’ve loved!
